I - Sb (Iodine - Antimony)

Ziya Aliyev, Mahammad Babanly

Introduction

The binary and ternary iodides of As, Sb and Bi have semiconducting properties. Crystalline antimony tri-iodide exhibits second-harmonic generation and the doped SbI3 photosensitive films can be used as high-resolution image microrecording and information storage. Therefore, knowledge on crystal structure and thermodynamic properties of phases in the I-Sb binary system is of great importance. The phases of the I-Sb system were studied by several techniques and at different temperature and composition ranges. These are listed in Table 1. Phase diagrams of this system are given by [1961Rol] and [2010Ali]. The I-Sb system is characterized by the monotectic and eutectic equilibria. The coordinates for the monotectic equilibrium given by [2010Ali] strongly differ from those of [1961Rol...
