There have been a number of assessments of the phase diagram and thermochemistry of the Cu-Y system in recent years, and much of the experimental data relating to the system have been discussed therein [1990Ita, 1992Oka, 1994Cha, 1994Fri, 1994Sub, 1996Rud, 1997Abe]. The liquidus phase boundaries for the phase diagram appearing in [Mas2] were speculative owing to insufficient experimental information. A large uncertainty in the melting points of the compounds and some of the invariant temperatures was also given. [1990Ita] presented a thermodynamic assessment of the system based on experimental enthalpies of mixing of the liquid phase [1983Sud, 1984Wat], heat content determinations and experimental determinations of invariant and compound melting temperatures [1989Qi].
