The T-x phase diagram Fe-S, in the version assessed by [1982Kub], reprinted in [Mas2] and accepted in a later assessment by [1988Rag], is shown in Figs. 1a, 1b. The system comprises a congruently melting phase Fe1-xS, an incongruently melting phase FeS2, a eutectic between Fe and Fe1-xS and a monotectic between Fe1-xS and S. There are metatectic and peritectic equilibria connected with the allotropic transformation of Fe near the iron side. A revised version of the central region of the diagram, made by [1992Gro], is shown in Fig. 2. The complex characteristic of this concentration range is evident.
