Literature Data

The literature up to 1988 has been assessed by [1988Itk] and has been accepted in [Mas2]. Two intermetallics, CaAl4 and CaAl2 were cited. [1993Mil] measured the low temperature structural phase transition of AlCa4. A single phase sample has been prepared from the elements and after heat treatment in sealed Ta crucibles. No information can be found on the purity of the starting materials. [1998Hua] reported two new intermetallic compounds, Ca13Al14 and Ca8Al3. Single phase samples have been prepared by arc-melting under Ar and subsequent heat treatment in Ta crucibles starting from the pure elements (99.99 mass% Ca, 99.999 mass% Al).
