Literature Data

In the critical assessment of the Cu-Nb system by [1994Cha], literature was covered up to 1981. A phase diagram was proposed based on liquidus data of [1969All] and on the eutectic temperature data of [1979Pet]. The phase diagram shows a near-horizontal liquidus over a wide range of composition. The shape of the liquidus was confirmed by experiments of [1984Smi, 1998Li, 2000Li]. Other authors [1961Pop, 1978Ver, 1984Ter, 1991Oka] propose a monotectic invariant reaction. This is supposed to be due to a higher amount of impurities, as pointed out by [1994Cha, 1998Li, 2000Li].
