Introduction

The Al-Cr phase diagram has been investigated and assessed several times. The earliest description of the Al-Cr system was published by [1933Fin]. In 1937, a detailed X-ray analysis of the system was reported by [1937Bra]. Later, in 1963, a new experimental investigation of the system was reported by [1963Koe]. [1998Mur] reviewed the literature up to 1998 and gave an assessed diagram, as well performing an optimisation. In 2006, the phase diagram was reinvestigated experimentally by [2006Che]. [2008Oka] reviewed the literature up to 2008 and gave an assessed diagram, but it must be noted that data of [2006Che] were not taken into account in this review.
