Literature Data

Critical evaluation of the literature data published until 1987 was done by [1988Cla]. Subsequently the Mg-Zn system was studied experimentally by [1993Luo] and [1994Goe], see Table 1. Thermodynamic optimisations have been performed by [1992Aga] and [1992Luk]. Comparing with the assessed phase diagram by [1988Cla] the optimization of the system by [1992Aga] and [1992Luk] lead to different invariant equilibria in the region of the Mg7Zn3 phase, Mg51Zn20 and the Mg-rich eutectic. The peritectic temperature of formation of this phase (341.1°C) is very close to the eutectic temperature (341.0°C), see Table 3. The composition of the Mg7Zn3 phase was considered by [1992Aga, 1992Luk] to be left of the Mg-rich eutectic and to correspond to the formula Mg51<...
