Introduction

The Fe-Ni-W system is of great interest in a number of technological fields, such as the sintering of hard and refractory W-based alloys. The phase diagram of the Fe-Ni-W system has been studied experimentally since 1932. The first work of [1932Win] focused on compositions in the region of up to 45 mass% W; eight vertical sections together with the projection of the liquidus surface were constructed and later reproduced by [1961Eng, 1949Jae]. The investigation was accompanied by the measurement of some magnetic properties.
