Cerium - Iron - Manganese

Vladimir Cheverikin, Iuliia Fartushna, Andy Watson

Introduction

Fe-Mn alloys are of interest owing to their attractive properties, such as shape memory properties, mechanical properties, electrical and magnetic properties. Rare-earth - transition metal intermetallic compounds formed in many R-Fe-Mn systems (R - rare-earth elements) form an interesting group of magnetic materials that have many potential applications and show special properties for the production of permanent magnets. High saturation magnetization is obtained for compounds of light rare-earth metals. Ce2Fe17 is well known among the R2Fe17 compounds for its unusual magnetic properties, complex magnetic structures and magnetovolume instabilities. The Re2Fe17-xMnx compounds are of interest from the standpoint of the search for new high-energy m...
