The system contains many technologically important alloys, such as foil and sheet products for food packaging, capacitors, lithographic printing sheets, magnetic alloys for transformer. Furthermore, iron and silicon, originating from bauxite ore and anode material, are present in nearly all industrial Al-alloys. Metallurgical grade silicon also contains, among others, aluminum and iron as impurities.
