Cobalt - Chromium - Molybdenum

Maria Kareva, Yao Wang, Mario Kriegel, Jian Peng, Viktor Kuznetsov

Introduction

The Co-Cr-Mo alloys are widely used as structural materials for biomedical applications, such as coronary stent, arthroplasty (artificial joint replacement) and dental implants, due to their good biocompatibility, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and favorable mechanical properties. Tremendous amount of work is performed on nearly the single composition Co28Cr8Mo. This alloy is denoted as F75 in ASTM Standard 1998.
