The influence of V on structure and properties of iron and steels was realized in the steelworks of Sheffield University during a series of researches carried out from 1899 to 1902. The first review on the structure, carbide composition, and properties of steels alloyed with vanadium was presented by [1912Arn]. The first fundamental investigation of C-Fe-V alloys was performed by [1930Oya1, 1930Oya2], who presented the phase equilibria in the Fe rich portion of the phase diagram. But raw materials in this work were seriously contaminated with Si and Mn. Phase relations in the Fe rich corner were also determined by [1931Hou] and locations of borders of some phase domains were predicted.
