Al - N (Aluminum - Nitrogen)

The Condensed Phases, Equilibria with the Gas Phase

The nitrogen solubility in solid and liquid aluminum is very small. At the monotectic temperature (2791°C) nitrogen solubility in liquid aluminum is calculated to be 0.7 at.% [92Hil] and reduces rapidly with decreasing temperature. At the eutectic temperature of 660°C, nitrogen solubility in liquid aluminum is measured to be only 10-14 at.% by [92Hil] and 10-11 at.% by [86Wri].
