Al - O (Aluminum - Oxygen)

Condensed Phases

The solubility of oxygen in solid and liquid aluminum is very small and is practically beyond the limits of the modern methods of quantitative analysis of oxygen. It is assumed, that the aluminum forms a eutectic with α-Al2O3, the temperature of which is close to the melting temperature of pure aluminum, and the composition is close to pure aluminum. The oxygen composition in liquid aluminum at the eutectic point is probably less than 3•10-8 mass% [85Wri].
