Cd - Ge (Cadmium - Germanium)

Condensed Phases

The mutual solid solubilities of the components very small. The cadmium solubility in germanium exhibits a retrograde character. The maximum solid solubility is approximately 0.005 at.% and occurs at approximately 840°C [60Kos]. Cadmium exhibits a eutectic reaction with germanium. The eutectic temperature lies only one degree below the melting point of cadmium. The germanium content is approximately 0.23 at.%. at the eutectic point. No compound phases are formed in the Cd-Ge system.
