Gd - H (Gadolinium - Hydrogen)

Condensed Phases

In the Gd-H system α- and γ-Gd solid solutions are formed. A dihydride of gadolinium (GdH2) with f.c.c. lattice (type fluorite) and parameter a = 0.5297-0.5303 has the homogeneity range GdH1.8-GdH2.3. Gadolinium Trihydride (GdH3) has a h.c.p. lattice (parameters a = 0.78 nm, c = 0.671 nm) and a homogeneity range from GdH2.85 to GdH3 at room temperature [56Stu].
