Au - Zn (Gold - Zinc)

Condensed Phases

The maximum solubility of zinc in solid gold occurs at the 683°C eutectic temperature with the value 33.5 at.%. The maximum solubility of gold in solid zinc is 7.5 at.% which occurs at the peritectic temperature of 438°C. The following phases are formed in the Au-Zn system: α3, α1, αʹ2, α2, Au5Zn3, βʹ, δ, γ, εʹ, γ2, γ3 and ε. Details of the compositions and crystal structures of these phases are given in Table 1 [89Oka].
