Al - Mg (Aluminum - Magnesium)

Condensed Phases

The maximum solubility of magnesium in aluminum at the eutectic temperature of 450°C is 18.9 at.%. The maximum aluminum solubility in magnesium at the eutectic temperature is 11.8 at.%. The structure of a number of phases (Al3Mg2 (β), R, Al12Mg17 (γ)) in the Al-Mg system have been determined and their stability has been precisely established (Table 1). Data referring to other phases are contradictive and may have been produced under non-equilibrium conditions [Mas].
