Cu - O (Copper - Oxygen)

Condensed Phases

The oxygen solubility in solid copper is very small. In earlier works the solubility values were generally overestimated. With the improvement of oxygen analytical methods the measurements became more precise and especially by using ultrapure copper the lowest values of the solubility were received. The data, received by various authors by using copper with different purities, are presented in Fig. 1. For the purest copper (99.99997%) the following equation was found for the temperature range 550-1050°C [84Ham]:
