The B-C system is adopted from a recent assessment and thermodynamic calculation by [1996Kas, 1998Kas] (Fig. 1). The crystallographic data for the binary phases are given in Table 1. Binary phase diagram data are summarized in Table 2. The assessment of the B-C system by [1996Kas, 1998Kas] revealing a peritectic reaction L + B₄C ↔ (βB) at 2103°C rather than a eutectic L ↔ βB + B₄C at 2080°C as given by [1966Rud].
