Literature Data

[1993Pav] synthesized binary Er-Li alloys by arc melting of the pure components (Li with 98.2 mass% and Er with 99.8 mass.% purity) in purified argon at atmospheric pressure. The specimens were subsequently annealed at 200°C for 240 h in tantalum containers and analyzed by X-ray diffraction. Complete immiscibility has been observed. [1998Gan] deduced the Er-Li phase diagram to be of peritectic type based on empirical formula. Samples have been prepared by melting the pure elements (Er and Li>99.7 mass% purity) in molybdenum crucibles in a resistance furnace and an argon overpressure of 0.5 MPa. The composition of the peritectic reaction was estimated from the experimentally determined transition temperature using another empirical relation.
