Literature Data

Literature data up to 1985 have been reviewed by [1994Sub] and they have been used by [Mas2]. There are no other relevant works on the Cu-Os system. No binary compound exist. No experimental equilibrium diagram is available for the Cu-Os system. The crystal structure data for pure elements are given in Table 1. The solubilities of Os in (Cu) are very small. A schematic phase diagram is shown in Fig. 1 after the calculation performed by [1994Sub], which revealed a metastable miscibility gap at 42.5 at.% Os, ~ 2286°C. This calculation by [1994Sub] is based on heat of solution of Os in liquid Cu and that of Cu in liquid Os predicted by [1983Nie] as 46 kJ mol-1 and 37 kJ mol-1, respectively.
