The Mg-Sm system has been studied by X-Ray, metallographic and DTA method and a phase diagram has been built completely by [1989Sac] and was reproduced in [Mas2]. This system exhibits five intermetallic compounds for which the structure is well established. A metastable phase, SmMg11, was obtained by rapid solidification [1993Bud]. The solubility of samarium in solid magnesium at 500°C has been examined by the electrical resistivity, by X-Ray lattice parameter measurements and metallography [1998Rok] (see Table 1).
