Literature Data

[Mas2] declined to provide a phase diagram on account that the data were too contradictory. The Al-Re system was assessed by [1998Hua] and the diagram was based mainly on [1961Sav] and [1969Sch]. The binary description was used in a Al-Ni-Re ternary calculation by [1999Hua], although the diagram looked slightly different. Subsequent to this, [1993Nie] determined the crystal structure of Re4Al11 and ReAl6. The two intermetallic compounds were synthesized by arc-melting of a Re-powder + Al foil mixture (purity >99.9%). The as-cast samples were heat treated between 800°C and 1000°C in Al2O3 crucibles which were sealed in quartz tubes.
