Only one work is devoted to the investigation of phase equilibria in this system [1961Vog], where the solubility of sulfur in liquid gold and the second boiling point have been determined. The {S(g) + Au(L)} / Au(L) phase boundary have been defined at four temperatures within the interval of 0 to 5.85 at.% S by adding Pb to liquid Au saturated with sulfur vapor. The volume and weight of resulting Pb-S and Au-Pb alloys were measured. The Au(L) / {Au(L) + Au(s)} phase boundary and the Au(L) ↔ Au(s) + S(g) invariant temperature were also determined from cooling curves. The solubility limits of S in Au(L) was estimated to be 4.95 at.%. These results were used by [Mas2] to assess the phase diagram for the Au-S system. [1972Cug] determined the enthalpy of formation of a metastable compound Au2S using the em...
