The Ni-Ta system was studied by several techniques at different temperatures and compositions, which are listed in Table 1. The Ni-Ta binary has been assessed by [1984Nas], [1991Kau], [1994Ans], [1999Cui], [2001Gup], and [2002Pan]. They combined the thermodynamic calculations and published experimental results and re-established the phase diagram. Brief review of phase equilibria were presented by [1996Oka], [2000Oka]. Hence the phase diagram given by [1999Cui] has been accepted. The system exhibits five phases, viz. Ta2Ni, TaNi, TaNi2, TaNi3, and TaNi8 along with solid solutions (Ni) and (Ta). The composition ranges of phase boundaries and compositions of these phases have been experimentally found out by [1977Pim], [1984Nas] and [1999Cui...
