No experimental equilibrium diagram is available for the Cu-Tb system. On the basis of the crystal structure data a calculation of the phase relationships was made by [1988Sub]. The systematic variation of the characteristic temperatures across the lanthanide series was utilized and the Cu-Tb invariant temperatures were obtained by interpolation. The existence, moreover, of the Tb2Cu7 and Tb2Cu9 phases was proposed solely on the basis of the existence of similar compounds in Cu-Gd, Cu-Dy and Cu-Er systems. [1989Iba] carried out thermal expansion measurements on rare earth-copper alloys between 4 and 700 K. Large anomalies were observed, which attribute to a martensitic transformation.
