A review of this system appeared in [1988Sub], which was essentially repeated in [1994Sub1]. No experimental phase diagram appears in the literature for this system although [1988Sub] presented an estimated diagram. This was based on the systematic variation of melting and eutectic temperatures appearing in other Cu-RE systems [1994Sub2] together with thermodynamic modelling using experimental heats of mixing in the liquid phase. Thermodynamic properties of the liquid phase were measured by high-temperature reaction calorimetry by [1984Wat] by dropping solid Lu into liquid copper at 1373 K. The data were converted to enthalpies of mixing by adjusting for the heat increment from 298 K to 1373 K and the enthalpy of fusion for the added Lu.
