The ternary compound EuAgBi was prepared in corundum crucibles from stoichiometric amounts of the constituent elements which were heated under argon to 1000°C for 12-16 h, then powdered and annealed at 110°C for 14 h. The structure was determined by powder X-ray diffraction (see Table 1). Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility reveal that EuAgBi is paramagnetic between -193 and +17°C and that europium is in the state Eu2+ [81Tom].
