[86Sch2] investigated the magnesium rich corner of the Ag-Al-Li-Mg system. The alloys were prepared from the pure elements by melting and heat treatment in low carbon steel crucibles. A gas pressure of 4 bar argon was applied in order to reduce the mass loss due to the evaporation. Special care had to be taken to avoid demixing of the alloys. Phase analysis was made by means of XRD and metallography, as well as EMPA [86Sch1]. Size and shape of the single phase spaces, of magnesium and the coexisting phases, were determined for 200, 300, and 400°C [86Sch2]. No quaternary phase was observed. Figure 1 shows the isothermal section at 400°C.
