Introduction

Investigation of phase relationships in the Ag-Au-I system is restricted to a study of the pseudobinary system AgI-AuI [78Jan], which was established by DTA- and high temperature X-ray diffraction measurements using doubly sublimed iodine mixed with reactive gold and silver powder, heated at 120°C for one week in silica ampoules. The one ternary compound found, AgAuI2, showed two modifications.
