The synthesis of an intermetallic compound AgCePb is reported by Mazzone et al. [83Maz]. The components used for sample preparation were Ce of 99.9 mass% and Ag and Pb of 99.99 mass% purity. The samples were induction melted under Ar and annealed at 500°C for 1 week. The samples obtained as easily oxidizable, well-melted, brittle ingots were examined by optical and electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and energy dispersive EPMA. This study was carried out in the course of an investigation of several AgPbRE (RE = rare earth) compounds. All the alloys of 1:1:1 nominal composition had an almost homogeneous appearance and analogous properties.
