Introduction

Köster [57Koe] investigated ternary isothermal sections (xTi > 25 at.%) at 800°C, 1000°C and 1100°C by X-ray and metallographic analyses. At these temperatures the binary Ti-Al phases are in equilibrium with an Ag-rich melt or the silver solid solution, (Ag). [83Has] determined the 800°C isothermal section (Fig. 4) and a vertical section from Ti-51 Al to Ag-7.5 Al by electron microprobe, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and DTA. The two investigations differ on three points:
