The solubility of oxygen in solid or molten Ag is progressively reduced with additions of Au, [33Too] determined the solubility of oxygen in solid Ag-Au alloys containing 2.8, 5.7 and 12.0 at.% Au (5, 10 and 20 mass% Au). The minimum in the solubility curves at about 400°C is probably associated with the formation of Ag2O below 400°C rather than to the presence of dissolved oxygen. [68Bak] states that the effect of alloying Au with Ag would be expected to reduce markedly the solubility of oxygen and that unquoted thermigravimetric data confirms this expectation. The data reported by [68Sha1, 68Lup, 71Kun] show that alloying Ag with Au reduces the solubility of oxygen in the melt. The statement of [68Bak] requires reversing. [68Sha1] studied the effect of Au additions up to 42.1 at.% (57 mass%) over the temper...
