Introduction

Panchunk et al. [74Pan1, 74Pan2] investigated the cross section Ag-CdTe (Fig. 2) and the solubility of Ag in n-CdTe using microhardness tests, X-ray studies, metallography and DTA. Experiments have shown that Ag-CdTe is not a pseudobinary section. Ag2Te-CdTe, on the other hand, was found to be pseudobinary [85Bon, 86Tri]. The results were obtained by thermal- and X-ray analysis, metallography and microhardness tests [85Bon], as well as physicochemical studies [86Tri] and differ appreciably.
