Introduction

Ternary phases of the compositions AgAlS2 [53Hah], AgAl5S8 [61Fla] and Ag9AlS6 [81Gui] have been found. At pressures above 2.5 GPa, AgAlS2 transforms into another modification [74Ran] which can be retained as a metastable phase at atmospheric pressure below 250°C. The pseudobinary system Ag2S-Al2S3, which contains the three ternary phases, was established by DTA [81Gui].
