Silver - Gold - Copper

Alan Prince, updated by Ping Liang

Introduction

This important ternary system, acting as the basic phase diagram for an understanding of gold dental alloys, has been studied for the past 75 years. A detailed assessment of the literature has been made with respect to the liquidus and solidus surfaces, the solvus surface arising from the solid-state miscibility gap in the Ag-Cu system, and the ternary equilibria at low temperatures arising from the ordered phases in the Au-Cu system.
