Introduction

The C-Nb-Si system is only partially known and several doubts, namely about the number of ternary phases stable in the system, subsist. Main studies of the system have been carried out by [1965Bru] and [1981Sav] who investigated the 1300°C and 800°C isothermal sections, respectively. A vertical quasibinary section has been studied by [1982Ste].
